Due to emergency conditions, it has been concluded that it is in everybody’s best interest to postpone, until further notice, our CBOAC 54th Annual Business Meeting and Conference, scheduled to commence on October 30th thru November 1st, 2017 in Santa Rosa, CA.

After reviewing the reports and speaking with our Building and Fire Official colleagues in the region this Wednesday morning, the current emergency conditions are still quite volatile within Santa Rosa and other neighboring and regional communities affected by the wildfires. As you may suspect, there are other logistical situations such as power, water, roadways, workforce housing, the airport, air quality, etc. that have been impacted and will likely continue to affect the area for quite a while after the fires have been contained. We apologize for any inconvenience this situation may cause.

Regarding the Flamingo Resort and Conference Center…

Even though the Flamingo Conference Resort was not among the buildings that were physically damaged by the wildfires, there likely would be smoke mitigation and cleanup processes that will take time to complete. Due to evacuation orders, there is currently no personnel at the Flamingo Conference Resort at the time of this message. We do suggest that you try to cancel any reservations at the Flamingo Conference Resort via their website. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. If you contact the Flamingo Conference Resort via phone, the message below has been recently expressed:

The Flamingo Hotel in Santa Rosa has been evacuated by Cal Fire.  The mandatory evacuation remains in force at this time.  If you have a reservation for today, it has been cancelled.  If you have made a reservation through a third party such as Expedia, Orbitz, Trivago, Hotels.com, Hotel Tonight, and Priceline, this reservation is cancelled.

Many third parties ignored our shut down order on Monday morning.  For this, we are truly sorry.  The hotel informed all third parties to shut down bookings at 9AM on Monday.

Any pre-paid reservation for this week must be refunded by the website or app where the purchase has been made.

 Stay safe.  Hotel Management

(Please note that the message above is subject to revision as necessary by the Hotel Management. We suggest that you continue to contact the Hotel to verify the status of your particular reservation.)

CBOAC anticipates rescheduling the event, however a firm decision has yet to be made and will be forthcoming as soon as possible.

Regarding CBOAC 2017 ABM sponsorship or conference attendance payments…

If you were planning on sending any checks or other documents to our Treasurer, please cancel that mailing. Our Treasurer is among the many who are currently subject to notice of evacuation.

We understand that you may have financial and other concerns. We will try to address your concerns as quickly as possible. If you desire to roll forward your CBOAC 2017 ABM sponsorship or conference attendance payments towards the 2018 CBOAC Annual Business Meeting and Conference , please feel free to contact us to make the arrangements. We completely understand if you would rather have a refund of your CBOAC 2017 ABM sponsorship or conference attendance payments. Please direct your requests via email to me, in consideration of the Treasurer’s current status. We will make every attempt to process requests as soon as possible.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you should have any questions.

 Respectfully,  Tony Creter
