Dear CBOAC Members and Guests:

I wish to express my sincere gratitude to the members of the County Building Officials Association of California for having the confidence in allowing me to serve as its 54th CBOAC President.

As the building official for the smallest county by population in the State of California, I am humbled by your support. It is with the power of networking that allows smaller jurisdictions to be recognized and can gain from the experience of fellow building inspectors, building officials and past CBOAC Presidents.

Building officials, inspectors, plans examiners and industry professionals are faced with many challenges. Building codes are evolving in an effort to keep pace with new technology, environmental and energy developments, accessibility requirements, a housing crunch, political influences, and now the legal aspects of cannabis.  The devastating fires in Northern and Southern California have required building officials and their staff to perform functions at a higher level and pace than ever before. It is with these situations in mind that the network interaction of CBOAC, along with our partner organizations at CALBO, CSAC, and ICC, can strengthen our confidence and resolve.

The CBOAC Annual Conference and Education meetings and Google groups have been an effective forum for not only learning about the new codes, but to interact with State agencies, such as CAL FIRE, ICC and the CA Building Standards Commission to voice our opinions regarding the practical effects and impacts of the adopted codes.

We at CBOAC would like to take this opportunity to thank the International Code Council for its support of our chapter and to our valued industry sponsors for their continuing support of our cause. I also wish to personally thank the CBOAC Board of Directors who continues to volunteer their valuable time and energy in support of our activities.

Please feel free to navigate through our website. We are welcoming new sponsors and new members from cities and counties.

We’re actively planning for our 2018 CBOAC Annual Conference and Education meetings so watch for our announcements. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
